Abstract


                                                      ABSTRACT

     The research is entitled “Compound Words in The Film John Wick The Series by Chad Stahelski”. The objectives of this research are to identify and analyze the types and meaning of the compound words found in the film “John Wick The Series.” The writer used Carstairs-McCarthy’s compound words theory to analyze and explain the data. This research employs qualitative research as an approach and uses a descriptive method. The main source of data were the script and the movie John Wick The Series. The result of this research, the writer has found three types of compound words found in the film. The writer found twenty compound nouns, those are cocksucker, doorstep, membership, housekeeping, battlefield, lifeboat, footprint, motherfucker, afterlife, meantime, gunfight, folktale, knowledge, outside, gunshot, madman, alleyway, relationship, childhood, and highway; seven compound verbs, they are understand, overlooked, withdraw, dillydally, shortchanged, underestimate, well-played; and nine compound adjectives, they are halfway, well-behaved, seven-round, and cold-blooded, handsome, wholeheartedly, rightfully, beforehand, and southbound. The writer also found two types of compound words meaning, they are endocentric compound and exocentric compound. _________________________________
