Abstract

                                                      ABSTRACT

This research entitled “Ketidakfasihan Berbicara dalam Interview TEDTalks Bersama Yuval Noah Harari “Nationalism vs Globalism” Suatu Analisis Psikolinguistik” is an attempt to identify types of speech disfluencies made by Yuval Noah Harari and Chris Anderson in the interview and to analyze the causes of those speech disfluencies. In classifying and analyzing the data that have been collected, the writer uses Fox-Tree’s (1995) theory and Bortfeld’s et al (2001) theory to identify what the causes of speech disfluencies are. The writer has found that both of the speakers have the tendency to produce more pauses than the other disfluencies, and in this case, Chris is the one who is more disfluent in terms of making disfluencies because of aging factor. The disfluencies made by Yuval and Chris in the TEDTalks Interview is generally caused by several variables, such as, processing load, coordination function, familiarity of partner conversation, age, and another variable like speaker characteristic and topic of conversation. This research will help students and the next researcher in expanding and broaden their knowledge in the circle of speech disfluencies.
