Abstract

                                                 ABSTRACT

     This research is entitled “Perjuangan Perempuan Melalui Tokoh Utama Andrea Seperti Terefleksi dalam film Devil Wears Prada yang Disutradarai oleh David Frankel”. It is written to fulfill the requiretment of accomplishing bachelor degree in English Department Faculty of Humanity Sam Ratulangi University. The focus of this research is about woman struggle in the feminism point of view. This research includes the concept of feminism, film analysis and character analysis. The data were collected from the script and screenshots from the movie Devil Wears Prada. In identifying, classifying and analyzing the data, the writer uses two theories, such as the theory of film analysis by Mary H. Snyder in her book “Analyzing Literature-to-Film Adaptation A Novelist’s Exploration and Guide” (2011). The writer also uses the theory of character analysis written by Robert Stanton in his book “Introduction to Fiction” (1965). The method employed in this research is descriptive method by Bogdan and Biklen (1982). The results of this research shows that there are three kinds of woman struggle reflected in the movie, such as struggle to life, struggle to achieve dream and struggle to get love. It is shown through the main female character’s actions and conversations with other characters.
