                                                      ABSTRACT

      This research is entitled “The Persona Archetype Analysis of Andrea Sachs in the Novel The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger”. It is a research which focuses on persona archetype reflected by main character in the novel by analyzing the character. The writer uses concept of character analysis by Roberts (1964). In order to analyze the persona archetype, the writer uses psychoanalisis by Jung (1983). The writer also provides more informations about persona archetype by analyzing the factors of persona, development of persona and persona’s transformation based on Jung in Stein (1998 also the effects toward self. By finishing this research, the writer hopes the society especially each people will be aware of the term persona and can learn about it’s existence. Moreover, this research used qualitative method for analyzing the data through two steps; first, by identifying the persona archetype reflected by the main character Andrea and second is analyzing the narration texts or dialogue in the novel in order to figure out the reason why it could be concluded as persona archetype and the effects of persona. The result shows that Andrea have more than one persona. Also, the writer could found how the persona reflected in the main character by analyzing the source or factors of persona, development of persona, transformation of persona. For instance, the factors of Andrea’s persona is mostly came from her work environment. Then, Andrea started being too identified with her image as Runway girl which can be seen as the development of her persona. This situation changed Andrea’s life as well as her personality from modest girl turned to fashioned girl that wearing branded clothes from Runway. After analyzing Andrea’s persona, the writer found the effects of persona toward Andrea such as being too identified with her work that concerns her personal life, and appereance changing.. Persona also helping Andrea for instance getting good impression by others. _______________________________________
