KALIMAT IMPERATIF DALAM FILM MISSION IMPOSSIBLE-FALLOUT KARYA                    CHRISTOPHER MCQUARRIE (SUATU ANALISIS SINTAKSIS)

ABSTRACT This research entitled “Kalimat Imperatif dalam Film Mission Impossible-Fallout is the requirement to accomplish the bachelor degree at Faculty of Humanities, Sam Ratulangi University. This research focused on the imperative sentences in the film Mission Impossible-Fallout (a syntactic analysis). The objectives of this research are to identify, to classify the imperative forms and analyze, descriptively the functions of imperative sentences. The writer uses Aarts and Aarts (1982) theory of imperative sentences. Imperative sentences contains a verb in imperative mood (the imperative mood expresses a command or request made directly to a person or persons) Aarts and Aarts (1982:95). The method employed in this research is descriptive method. This method used to describe the form of imperative sentence and explain the funtion in conversation in the film. The writer collected the data of imperative sentences from the film “Mission ImpossibleFallout” by Christopher Mcquarrie. After collecting the data, the writer classified forms of imperative sentences by using theory of Quirk and Greenbaum (1973). In imperative sentences there are five forms: command without subject, command with subject, command with let, negative imperative and persuasive imperative (Quirk and Greenbaum 1973:200-202). In analyzing the functions of imperative sentences according to the concept of Aarts and Aarts (1982). There are four functions in imperative sentence: command, wish, invitation and warning. The result of this research shows that there are one hundred and sixty one imperative sentences found in“Mission Impossible-Fallout” movie by Christopher Mcquarrie. The forms of imperative sentences consist of five forms in imperative sentences which are ninety-four form in command without a subject, fourtysix form in command with a subject, four form in command with let, sixteen form in Negative imperative and one form in persuasive imperative. In terms of function of imperatives found in the film there are ninety functions in command, thirty-four functions in wish, twenty-four functions in invitation, thirteen functions in warning.
