ABSTRACT
This study aims to assess the anti photooxidation activity and inhibition of AGEs (Advanced Glycation End-Products) activity from fraction of Padina australis algae. This research has started by extracting powder Padina australis algae with maseration method using 75% methanol solvent. Futhermore, extract has fractionated by conventional column chromatography with the solvent of methanol and aquades. The fractions have tested by determine the total phenolic content, antioxidant, anti photooxidation and inhibitory of AGEs (Advanced Glycation End-Products) activity. The results show that the fraction of F4 has the highest phenolic total content, antioxidant, anti photooxidation, and inhibition of AGEs activity followed by the fractions of F2, F1, F3, and F5. The inhibition of AGEs (Advanced Glycation End-Products) activity in each fraction was analyzed by using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Based on this research, it can be concluded that F4 has anti photooxidation activity and inhibiting of AGEs (Advanced Glycation End-Products) activity.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari aktitivitas antifotooksidasi dan penghambat pembentukan AGEs (Advanced Glycation End-Products) dari Fraksi Alga Padina australis. Penelitian ini dimulai dengan mengekstraksi serbuk alga Padina australis menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut metanol 75%. Kemudian, ekstrak difraksinasi menggunakan kromatografi kolom konvensional dengan pelarut metanol dan aquades. Hasil fraksi dikelompokkan menjadi 5 fraksi berdasarkan perbedaan warna. Fraksi-fraksi tersebut dilakukan pengujian untuk menentukan kandungan total fenolik, aktivitas antioksidan, antifotooksidasi, serta aktivitas penghambat pembentukan AGEs (Advanced Glycation End-Products). Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa fraksi F4 memiliki kandungan total fenolik, aktivitas antioksidan, antifotooksidasi, dan penghambat pembentukan AGEs tertinggi diikuti F2, F3, F1, dan F5. Aktivitas penghambat pembentukan AGEs (Advanced Glycation End-Products) pada masing-masing fraksi dianalisis dengan menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa F4 memiliki aktivitas antifotooksidasi dan penghambat pembentukan AGEs (Advanced Glycation End-Products).
