The waters of Sulawesi are directly influenced by oceanographic dynamics originating from the Pacific Ocean, resulting in spatial and temporal variations in sea surface temperature (SST). This study aims to analyze SST variation patterns in the Sulawesi Sea from spatial and temporal perspectives during the period of January 2023 to December 2024. The data utilized consist of Aqua MODIS Level 3 and Level 4 satellite data with a spatial resolution of 4 km × 4 km, obtained from NASA OceanColor. Analysis was conducted descriptively through SST mapping and the calculation of monthly and seasonal averages. Statistical analysis included an independent t-test to compare monthly mean SST between 2023 and 2024, as well as Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) post-hoc test to examine differences across seasons and locations. The results indicate that SST in the study area ranges from 29°C to 31.6°C, exhibiting a pattern of rising temperatures from the beginning to the middle of the year and a decline towards the end of the year. Spatial analysis revealed statistically significant differences in mean SST across locations, whereas seasonal variations were relatively minor. Overall, the Sulawesi Sea is characterized by warm and relatively stable temperatures influenced by regional oceanographic dynamics.
