Knowledge, attitudes, and practices of students regarding dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention at SMA Unklab Airmadidi, North Minahasa

Background: Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Indonesia, as a tropical country, often experiences an increase in DHF cases. Based on data from the Airmadidi Public Health Centre, DHF cases in the area frequently fluctuate. In 2022, there were 11 recorded cases, which increased to 14 cases the following year. The age distribution of DHF cases during these years was predominantly adolescents aged 12-17 years.
Aim: To describe the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of students regarding dengue haemorrhagic fever prevention.
Methods: This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional design. The study sampled 199 students. We analysed descriptively to describe the research variable.
Results: The results showed that the respondents' level of knowledge was in the good category (58.8%), the students' attitudes were good (52.3%), and the level of practices was good (51.3%).
Conclusion: Respondents at SMA UNKLAB Airmadidi have good knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding dengue haemorrhagic fever prevention.
