Implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) Technology in the 'Pekarangan Pangan Lestari' (P2L) Program in Pakuure Tinanian Village, Tenga District, South Minahasa Regency

Abstrak

The objective of this community service program was to implement Internet of Things (IoT) technology in the Sustainable Food Yard Program (Pekarangan Pangan Lestari/P2L) to improve the productivity and sustainability of household-based agriculture in Pakuure Tinanian Village, Tenga District, South Minahasa Regency. The program employed a participatory approach involving greenhouse construction, installation of an IoT-based monitoring and automatic irrigation system, and community training and demonstrations. A 2 × 2 × 2 meter greenhouse equipped with sensors for soil moisture, air temperature, humidity, and automated irrigation was developed to enable real-time monitoring and environmental control. The implementation demonstrated improved plant growth, more efficient water utilization, and enhanced environmental management through automated monitoring and control. Community outreach and hands-on demonstrations also increased participants' knowledge and skills in applying IoT technology for household food production. In conclusion, integrating IoT with the P2L program proved to be an effective approach for optimizing greenhouse cultivation, improving resource efficiency, and strengthening community capacity in adopting smart agricultural technologies.
