ABSTRACTThe study aims to characterize nutmeg in Siau island based on morphology fruit. The study was conducted using survey method directly at the local farmers plantation area. This study was car was one village selected from each district as a research location. Having determined the locations, the sample trees were selected. The trees were more than forty years old, healthy growth and ready to be harvested. Then, the observation on morfological fruits was made on the selected samples. The observation was made based on the tropical fruit descriptor standard (IBPGRI, 1980) with the following variables: 1) fruit shape, 2) rind color, 3) seed shape, 4) seed color, 5) mace color. The result shows that 1) fruit and seed shaped were varied in each location (six districts). 2) a variety fruit color were found in Kanawong village, West Siau district. 3) seed color varied in all districts. 4) variety mace color are found in Deahe village, East Siau district.
