Abstract: Blepharitis is one of the most common eye diseases, especially in the elderly. This disease causes eye discomfort resulting in a decrease in the quality of life. This study aimed to determine the prevalence, risk factors, and the relationship between risk factors and the incidence of blepharitis in the elderly group in Manado. This was an observational and analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The statistical analysis of the relationships used the chi-square test and the Fisher’s exact test. The result showed that 32 out of 44 elderly diagnosed with blepharitis were from three different nursing homes namely Panti Werdha Damai, Panti Werdha Sehati, and Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Senja Cerah. The statistical analysis showed that the relationships between age and the incidence of blepharitis, and between eye hygiene and the incidence of blepharitis had p-values of 0.023 and 0.016 (p<0.05), respectively. Meanwhile, the relationships between gender, room occupnacy density, and history of eye surgery with the incidence of blepharitis had p-values of p=1.000, p=0.487, and p=1.000 (p>0.05), respectively. In conclusion, there are relationships between age and eye hygiene with the incidence of blepharitis, however, there is no relationship between gender, room occupnacy density, and history of eye surgery with the incidence of blepharitis.
