Abstract
The coffee berry borer is a major pest on coffee plants which reduces production both in terms of quality and quantity. The aim of this study was to determine the percentage of attack by the coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei Ferr on coffee plantations owned by farmers in Sumber Rejo Village, Modayag District, East Bolaang Mongondow Regency. This research was carried out on coffee plantations owned by farmers in Modayag District, East Bolaang Mongondow Regency for four months starting from April 2021 to August 2021. This research used a survey method by taking coffee cherries samples by random sampling carried out diagonally. Based on the diagonal slices, there are 5 coffee cherries sampling plots with a distance between plots of 20 meters from the center point. Sampling in the field was carried out three times so that three duplicates were obtained. The results showed that the coffee berry borer attacked coffee cherries starting from green to red pods. The attack of coffee berry borer pests was generally higher on yellow and red cherries, namely 96-99.54%, attacks on green cherries were lower, 75.31-86.33% compared to red cherries. The attack rate of the coffee berry borer in the first collection was 91.83%, the second was 90.34% and the third was 92.10%. One of the main factors for the high damage in the Modayag area is the lack of plant maintenance.
