Abstract

                                                        ABSTRACT

     This research entitled “Students’ Perceptions on the Writing Tasks in Academic and Contextual Written English Course to Improve Writing Skills†is written as a research report to identify, classify and analyze how tasks are used in ACWE course and to describe and analyze the students’ perceptions about the writing tasks to improve their writing skills. Nunan’s (2004) theory about types of writing tasks and Gibson et al.’s (2009) theory about students’ perceptions are used to analyse the data. This research uses descriptive method. The data are collected from students’ writing tasks during the class of ACWE and from the results of interviews conducted with ten students. The results of this research show that the writing tasks are compatible with students’ needs and they have positive perspective on how tasks are used in ACWE course. Therefore, the writing tasks help students to improve their writing skills.
