Macroalgae Community Structure in Kamenti Waters, Kapataran Satu Village, East Lembean District, Minahasa Regency

Macroalgae are photosynthetic macrophytes that play a vital role in coastal ecosystems as primary producers, habitat providers, and environmental stabilizers. This study aimed to identify species composition and analyze the macroalgal community structure in Kamenti Waters, Kapataran Satu Village, East Lembean District, Minahasa Regency. Sampling was conducted on June 25, 2025, using a line transect method with quadrat technique (50 cm × 50 cm), comprising 5 transects with 50 m intervals. Six macroalgal species were recorded: Halimeda opuntia, H. macroloba, Valonia aegagropila, Avrainvillea erecta, Amphiroa fragilissima and Hydropuntia edulis. Community structure was analyzed based on density, Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), dominance (D), evenness (E), and species richness (R). H. opuntia was the most abundant spesies with a relative density of 75.93% (183 of 241 total individuals). H' ranged from 0.570 to 1.392, with transect 4 showing the most balanced community (H' = 1.392; D = 0.216; E = 0.865). Hutcheson t-test confirmed that transect 4 differed significantly (p < 0.05) from the other transects. Water temperature (30–31°C) and salinity (33‰) were within optimal ranges for macroalgal growth. Continued monitoring and ecosystem-based management are recommended.

Abstrak
Makroalga merupakan organisme fotosintetik makrofit yang berperan penting dalam ekosistem pesisir sebagai produsen primer, penyedia habitat, dan penyeimbang lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi komposisi jenis serta menganalisis struktur komunitas makroalga di perairan Kamenti, Desa Kapataran Satu, Kecamatan Lembean Timur, Kabupaten Minahasa. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada 25 Juni 2025 menggunakan metode line transect dengan teknik kuadrat (50 cm × 50 cm), sebanyak 5 transek dengan jarak antartransek 50 m. Hasil penelitian menemukan 6 jenis makroalga, yaitu Halimeda opuntia, H. macroloba, Valonia aegagropila, Avrainvillea erecta, Amphiroa fragilissima dan Hydropuntia edulis. Struktur komunitas dianalisis berdasarkan kepadatan, indeks keanekaragaman Shannon-Wiener (H'), dominansi (D), kemerataan (E), dan kekayaan jenis (R). Spesies H. opuntia mendominasi komunitas dengan kepadatan relatif 75,93% (183 dari 241 individu total). Nilai H' berkisar antara 0,570–1,392, dengan transek 4 menunjukkan komunitas paling seimbang (H' = 1,392; D = 0,216; E = 0,865). Uji t Hutcheson mengkonfirmasi bahwa transek 4 berbeda nyata (p < 0,05) dari transek lainnya. Kondisi lingkungan berupa suhu 30–31°C dan salinitas 33‰ masih dalam kisaran optimal bagi pertumbuhan makroalga. Penelitian lanjutan dan pengelolaan berbasis ekosistem diperlukan untuk keberlanjutan komunitas makroalga di perairan ini.
