ABSTRACT
Dental and oral health education is a proccess of education that emerge on the demand of dental and oral health that purposing on obtaining a better living standard. In the process of education, in the proces of education, individual obtained knowledge and experince through out many educational visual aids. The purpouse of this research is to find out if dental health education with a tooth brushing demonstration is efective to decrease debris index on elementary school student. This research is a descriptive study with a pre-test and post-test control group design. This research is conducted at SD GMIM 06 Manado. The respondent on this research is aquaired by total sampling methods with a total of 30 student as respondent. The result of this research shows that there are meaningful difference between dental health education without demonstration as much as 70,48% and dental health education which use tooth brushing demonstration as much as 86,95%. wilcoxon’s test shows that p=0.036 (p<0,05) which concluded there are a significant difference between dental health education that uses tooth brushing demonstration and those who without tooth brushing demonstration.

ABSTRAK
Pendidikan kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan suatu proses pendidikan yang timbul atas dasar kebutuhan kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang bertujuan untuk menghasilkan kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang baik dan meningkatkan taraf hidup. Dalam proses pendidikan dan pengajaran, individu memperoleh pengalaman atau pengetahuan melalui berbagai macam alat bantu pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah pemberian DHE disertai demonstrasi cara menyikat gigi efektif menurunkan indeks debris pada anak Sekolah Dasar.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan rancangan penelitian Pretest-Postest countrol group design. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SD GMIM 06 Manado, responden yang diteliti didapatkan menggunakan metode total sampling dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 30 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan terdapat perbedaan efektivitas yang bermakna antara DHE tanpa demonstrasi menyikat gigi sebesar 70,48% dan DHE disertai demonstrasi menyikat gigi sebesar 86,95%. Uji wilcoxon menunjukan p= 0,036 (p<0,05) yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara DHE dan DHE disertai demonstrasi cara menyikat gigi.
