ABSTRACT
Herbal plants in Indonesia is common used as medicine. One of the natural ingredient that can be used is Meniran (Phylantus Nirruri L). Meniran has chemical compounds that inhabiting fungi such as flavonoid, tannin, and saponin. Candida albicans is normal flora in oral cavity but in acrylic users denture, Candida albicans can rapidly grows if acrylic user denture don’t keep their mouth cleanliness. Excessive growth of Candida albicans can causing infection in oral cavity of acrylic user denture. Alterntive way to prevent Candida albicans is by using Meniran. The purpose of this research is to find out if the antifungi extract of Meniran effective to inhabiting the growth of Candida albicans and to rate the amount effect of Meniran extract against Candida albicans observed from it’s inhabiting zone. This research is experimental research using post-test only control group design with modification of Kirby bauer methods using filter paper. Meniran extract obtained from maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. Candida albicans bred from the smear of acrylic plate denture. This research result obtained from total diameter of inhibition zone of Meniran extract against Candida albicans in the amount of 92,8 mm with a mean value of 18,5 mm. From this research can be concluded that Meniran extract has antifungi effect to inhabiting Candida albicans. Inhabiting zone of Meniran extract against Candida albicans is 18,5 mm.
