ABSTRACT
Drug interaction is an interaction, which occurs when the effect of a drug was modified by the presence of other drugs. Drug interaction is a drug related problems, which can affect treatment outcomes of patients. Hypertensive patients require two or more antihypertensive medications to achieve the targeted blood pressure. Primary hypertension is ranked fifth highest outpatient in hospitals Luwuk 2015 with the number of cases at 714. This study aims to understand the interaction of antihypertensive drugs based on the number of patients, the mechanism and significance levels against patients with primary hypertension in outpatient installations of Luwuk Hospital period of January to March 2016. Data were retrospectively based on medical records. Samples were taken as many as 44 medical records that met the inclusion criteria. Data were analyzed descriptively using literature Stockley's Drug Interaction and Drug Interaction Facts. Forty-four patients with primary hypertension, which may experience drug interactions by 19 patients (43.2%) with the number of 20 cases of interaction. Based on the mechanisms, pharmacodynamic interactions were 18 cases (90%) and pharmacokinetic interactions were 2 cases (10%). Based on the level of significance, 2 out of 20 cases of drug interactions stated the level of significance of 1 and 3.
