ABSTRACT
Â
Crowshaft palm nuts (Areca vestiaria), from the Arecaceae family, have been used by the people of North Sulawesi for cancer medicine, diabetes, and male contraception. This study aims to see the effect of the consumption of crowshaft palm nuts extract on macroscopic description of cardiac organ in white mouse. The study was conducted using 12 male wistar rats, divided into four groups of doses, administered with ethanol extract of crowshaft palm nutsoraly (7,2 mg/mL, 14,4 mg/mL, 21,6mg/mL), and one group as negative control group for a comparison. The testing period was conducted for 40 days, with observations made in the form of rat body weight, macroscopic observation of cardiac organ and observation of organ weight. The results showed that the administered ofcrowshaft palm nuts extracts did not cause significant changes in macroscopic description of cardiac organ. In the analysis of the research using One Way ANOVA test, the result of the test showed that there was no significant difference in the average of body weight weighing and rat organ weight (p> 0.05).It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of crowshaft palm nutsdid not affect the macroscopic description of cardiac organ.
