ABSTRACT
Â
Kecombrang (Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M. Smith) has been used as traditional medicine and food ingredient empirically. This research was conducted to find out the influence of the ethanol fruit extracts of Etlingera elatior against the activity of macrophage phagocytosis. Various dose of the ethanol fruit extracts of Etlingera elatior were given orally to male mice strain Balb/c with each extract (100, 200, 300 or 400 mg/kg). As positive control, 0,13 mg/kg of Phyllanthus niruri Linn extract (Stimuno) was used and 0.5% Carboxymethylcellusoe Sodium as negative control. Extracts were given for seven day and on the eighth day all mice were injected by Staphylococcus aureus intraperitoneally. The activity of macrophage cels was counted by smear of periotenal fluid. The higher dosage of the extract, the more number of macrophage phagocytosis activity from 36.50% (Carboxymethylcellusoe Sodium), 45.75% (100mg/kg), 59.70% (200mg/kg), 61% (300 mg/kg) and 71,25% (400 mg/kg). The result showed that 300 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg of the ethanol fruit extracts of Etlingera elatior caused a significant immunomodulatory effect compare to the activity of Stimuno to increasing the activity of cell macrophage phagocytosis by statistical tests post hoc TUKEY (sig > 0.05).

ABSTRAK
Â
Kecombrang (Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M. > 0,05).
