This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of sago baruk. The study initiated by extracting sago baruk powder by soxhletation way for six consecutive hours using a solvent petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, butanol, ethanol and distilled water, respectively. The was then then continued to determined the total phenolic content, total antioxidant activity and determine the activity of free-radical scavengers using DPPH (1,1- diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazil). The results of this study showed that the ethyl acetate extract contains the highest total phenolic contain followed by ethanol, butanol, and petroleum distilled ether. The content of total phenolic were 134.898; 63.979; 44.387; 13.877; and 12.346 μg/mL, respectively. Ethyl acetate extracts also shown the highest total antioxidant activity compared to the other extracts. In DPPH test, the ethyl acetate extract showed the best activity in counteracting the free radicals. Based on these results, it could be concluded that the ethyl acetate extract of sago baruk was the best extract which can be act as antioxidants

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari sagu baruk. Penelitian dimulai dengan mengekstraksi serbuk sagu baruk menggunakan cara sokletasi selama enam jam berturut-turut dengan menggunakan pelarut petroleum eter, etil asetat, butanol, etanol dan aquades. Kemudian ditentukan kandungan total fenolik, total aktivitas antioksidan serta menentukan aktivitas penangkal radikal bebas menggunakan metode DPPH (1,1- diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazil). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etil asetat memiliki kandungan total fenolik tertinggi diikuti dengan ekstrak etanol, butanol, aquades dan petroleum eter. Kandungan total fenolik berturut-turut adalah 134,898; 63,979; 44,387;13,877; dan 12,346 μg/mL. Ekstrak etil asetat juga memiliki total aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi dibandingkan dengan ekstrak lain. Pada pengujian DPPH, ekstrak etil asetat menunjukkan aktivitas terbaik dalam menangkal radikal bebas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etil asetat adalah ekstrak terbaik yang dapat berperan sebagai antioksidan
