ABSTRACT
Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) is a member of Guttiferae family, its skin and fruit has been widely used for health purposes, but other parts such as leaves have not been utilized, while it has potential to have a similar content. This research aims to determine the secondary metabolites compound contained in mangosteen leaves (G. mangostana) and its toxicity activities so can be processed and utilized. The obtained extract was used for phytochemical screening and toxicity test to Artemia salina L. using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test method. Percentage of larval mortality was analyzed by probit analysis using SPSS 23.0 (LC50). The results of this research indicate that the ethanol extract of mangosteen leaves contain triterpenoid, flavonoid, tannin and saponin that can provide pharmacological effects. The mangosteen leaves has a high toxicity value, is Lethality Concentration 50 (LC50) value in the amount of 30.327 µg/mL.

ABSTRAK
Manggis (Garcinia mangostana L.) merupakan salah satu anggota famili Guttiferae yang telah banyak dimanfaatkan untuk kesehatan pada bagian kulit dan buahnya, namun bagian lainnya seperti daun belum dimanfaatkan yang dapat berpotensi mempunyai kandungan yang serupa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan senyawa metabolit sekunder dari daun manggis (G. mangostana) dan aktivitas toksisitasnya agar dapat diolah dan dimanfaatkan. Ekstrak yang diperoleh digunakan untuk skrining fitokimia dan uji toksisitas terhadap larva udang Artemia salina L. dengan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test. Persentase kematian larva dianalisis dengan analisis probit menggunakan SPSS 23.0 (LC50). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun manggis terdapat kandungan triterpenoid, flavonoid, tanin dan saponin yang dapat memberikan efek farmakologis. Daun manggis mempunyai nilai toksisitas yang tinggi, yakni nilai Lethality Concentration 50 (LC50) sebesar 30.327 µg/mL.
