ABSTRACT
Brotowali provides many benefits, one of which is to kill cancer cells. Research on natural substances suspected of potentially as medicinal as well as empirically has been used by society as a drug begins with pre-clinical test.This study aims to determine the active compound contained in the brotowali leaf and determine the LC50 value of Artemia salina Leach larvae after giving ethanol extract of brotowali leaves. Phytochemical screening included alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, and saponin tests based on the Harborne method and toxicity test of brotowali leaf extract using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). The results showed that brotowali leaves had alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, and saponin compounds, and had Lethality Concentration (LC50) value of 62.75 μg / mL.

ABSTRAK
Brotowali memberikan banyak manfaat, salah satunya yaitu dapat mematikan sel kanker. Penelitian bahan alam yang diduga berpotensi sebagai obat maupun secara empiris telah digunakan masyarakat sebagai obat diawali dengan uji pre-klinis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui golongan senyawa aktif yang terkandung dalam daun brotowali dan menentukan nilai LC50 larva Artemia salina Leach setelah pemberian ekstrak etanol daun brotowali. Skrining fitokimia yang dilakukan meliputi uji alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin, dan saponin yang berdasar pada metode Harborne dan uji toksisitas ekstrak kental daun brotowali menggunakan Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan daun brotowali mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin, serta saponin, dan memiliki nilai toksisitas Lethality Concentration (LC50) sebesar 62,75 µg/mL.
