Pigeon (Columba livia) is a type of bird which is nurtured and cultivated by human. Pigeon is one of the vertebrate aves group that has wings and feathers in which the majority of their activities are flying. Pigeon has unique advantages over other bird species which it has high ability to remember location and can also fly up to 65-80 km/hour. In one day, pigeon can fly as far as 965 km. The beautiful style of pigeon when flying allows it to fly quickly in aerodynamics. Based on the research background, we investigated the characteristics of aerodynamics of pigeons. The aim of this study was to determine the lift and thrust forces produced by pigeons during flying. The results of this study ware expected to be source of information on the biophysical aspects of aerodynamic forces of birds. As a result, body’s morphometric measurements among bird one, two, and three such as, The lift and thrust force of the first Pigeon (L= 16.71 N and F= 8.16 N), second dove (L= 6.21 N and F= 6.82 N) and third Pigeon (L= 9.18 N and F= 6.29 N).

Burung merpati (Columba livia) merupakan jenis burung yang dipelihara dan dibudidayakan para penggemar burung. Burung merpati adalah salah satu kelompok aves bertulang belakang (vertebrata) yang mempunyai sayap dan bulu mayoritas aktivitasnya adalah terbang. Burung merpati ini mempunyai kelebihan-kelebihan unik dari pada jenis burung lainnya, yaitu burung merpati mempunyai kemampuan mengingat lokasi sangat baik serta burung ini juga mempu terbang hingga 65-80 km/jam, dalam satu hari burung merpati dapat terbang sejauh 965 km. Gaya burung merpati yang indah saat terbang memungkinkan mereka terbang dengan cepat secara aerodinamika. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut telah dilakukan penelitian tentang karakteritik gaya aerodinamika pada burung merpati . Dengan tujuan mengetahuai berapa gaya angkat dan gaya dorong yang dihasilkan burung merpati ketika terbang. Dari hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat menjadi sumber informasi pada aspek biofisika terhadap gaya aerodinamika pada burung. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah pengukuran Morfometrik tubuh burung merpati satu, dua, dan ketiga. Perhitungan gaya angkat dan gaya dorong pada burung merpati pertama (L= 16,71 N dan F= 8,16 N), burung ke dua (L= 6,21 N dan F= 6,82 N) dan burung ke tiga (L= 9,18 N dan F= 6,29 N) dapat dilihat bahwa adanya perbedaan gaya angkat dan gaya dorong burung merpati satu, dua, dan tiga.
