ABSTRACT
Sponges are one of the biota components that make up coral reefs that have bioactive potential, which has not been widely utilized. Callyspongia aerizusa is a sponge that has a compound with high activity and has a porous body surface structure. Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit free radicals in the body, and inhibit oxidation of body cells, thereby preventing or reducing cell damage. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extracts of Sponges Callyspongia aerizusa from the waters of Mantehage Island. The Sponge Callyspongia aerizusa was extracted using the maceration method with ethanol as the solvent. Antioxidant activity testing was carried out using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method with a concentration of 0.5 mg / L, 0.6 mg / L, and 0.7 mg / L which were measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at the wavelength 517 nm. The results showed that the ethanol extracts of Sponge Callyspongia aerizusa was proven to have antioxidant activity. The highest antioxidant content was found at the concentration of 0.7 mg / L with an antioxidant activity of 58.40%.

ABSTRAK
Spons merupakan salah satu komponen biota penyusun terumbu karang yang mempunyai potensi bioaktif yang belum banyak dimanfaatkan. Callyspongia aerizusa ialah salah satu spons yang memiliki senyawa dengan aktivitas tinggi dan memiliki struktur permukaan tubuh yang berpori – pori. Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang dapat menghambat radikal bebas dalam tubuh, serta menghambat terjadinya oksidasi pada sel tubuh, sehingga dapat mencegah atau mengurangi terjadinya kerusakan sel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol Spons Callyspongia aerizusa dari perairan Pulau Mantehage. Spons Callyspongia aerizusa diekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan etanol sebagai pelarut. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan metode DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil) dengan konsentrasi 0,5 mg/L, 0,6 mg/L, dan 0,7 mg/L yang diukur menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 517 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol Spons Callyspongia aerizusa terbukti memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Kadar antioksidan tertinggi terdapat pada konsentrasi 0,7 mg/L dengan aktivitas antioksidan sebesar 58,40%.
