ABSTRACT
This study aimed to test the physical properties of the gel preparation Guava leaf extract and its effectiveness to the wound that infected by Staphylococcus aureus. Formula of guava leaf extract preparation gel made with variations concentration extract 1%, 5% and 7% with CMC-Na as its base. For the negative control the base gel was used and the positive control used bioplacenton gel (0.5% neomycin sulfate and placenta extract 10%). Guava leaf extract gel meet the organoleptic quality parameters gel, homogeneity, consistency, but does not meet the dispersive power quality parameters and pH to base gel and Guava leaf extract gel 1%. effectiveness test on infected wounds made on the backs of rabbits were cut along the 1.5 cm and Staphylococcus aureus were given 0.2 mL. Wound smeared three times a day ith gel that has been tested. Observations of wound done every day for 8 days. All data were tested statistically using the ANOVA (Analysis Of Variant) and followed by LSD (Least Significant Different). The result of the research shows that the slice wound that spreated guava leaf extract gel was narrowed, forming a scab and covered the wound start from the 4th (fourth) day. The results of statistical tests give significant effect between negative konrol the positive control, Guava leaf extract gel 1%, 5%, and 7%, namely F count> F table (13,150> 5.19).
