Potensi Antioksidan Ekstrak dan Fraksi Kayu Lawang (Cinnamomum culilaban (L.) Presl.)

Kayu Lawang (Cinnamomum culilaban (L.) Presl.) secara tradisional digunakan untuk perut kembung, penghilang nyeri, demam, asma dan mual oleh masyarakat Sulawesi Utara. Tanaman ini memiliki berbagai senyawa metabolit sekunder yang baik untuk kesehatan dan memiliki peluang sebagai penemuan obat baru. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui potensi antioksidan dari ektrak etanol, fraksi n-heksan, fraksi etil asetat dan fraksi metanol kayu lawang menggunakan metode DPPH. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan cara maserasi dan uji aktivitas antioksidan metode DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil) menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 517 nm. Hasil uji antioksidan ekstrak kental etanol kayu lawang dan fraksinya menunjukkan bahwa fraksi metanol memiliki aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi dengan IC50 sebesar 8,65 μg/mL, kemudian etil asetat IC50 45,43 μg/mL, n-heksan IC50 52,92 μg/mL dan etanol IC50 53,88 μg/mL. Berdasarkan nilai AAI (Antioxidant Activity Index) menunjukan fraksi metanol kayu lawang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat baik sehingga dapat dikembangan lebih lanjut untuk pengembangan obat dari bahan alam.
