Artikel ini mengkaji tentang perilaku pemilih masyarakat Desa Kiama Barat Kecamatan Melonguane pada Pemilihan Bupati dan Wakil Bupati (Pilkada)Kabupaten Kepulauan Talaud tahun 2018. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, kajian dilakukan dengan memfokuskan pada faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perilaku pemilih masyarakat Desa Kiama Barat dalam menentukan preferensi pilihan mereka pada Pilkada tahun 2018. Temuan penelitian menggambarkan bahwa perilaku pemilih Desa Kiama Barat lebih banyak dipengaruhi oleh faktor rasionalitas. Hal ini terlihat dari bagaimana mereka mendasarkan preferensi memilih mereka pada faktor prestasi dan juga popularitas dari pasangan terpilih, tanpa melihat latar belakang atau faktor historis. Alasan masyarakat ketika memilih pasangan calon dari prestasi yang ada, karena masyarakat ingin melihat pembangunan dan juga kerja nyata dari pasangan calon yang mereka pilih.

ABSTRACT

This article examines the voting behavior of the people of West Kiama Village, Melonguane District in the Election of Regent and Deputy Regent (Pilkada) of Talaud Islands Regency in 2018. Using descriptive qualitative methods, the study was conducted by focusing on the factors that influence voter behavior of the people of West Kiama Village in determine their choice preferences in the 2018 Pilkada. The research findings illustrate that the behavior of West Kiama Village voters is more influenced by rationality factors. This can be seen from how they base their voting preferences on the achievement factor and also the popularity of the chosen couple, regardless of background or historical factors. The reason for the community when choosing a candidate pair is because the community wants to see the development and also the real work of the candidate pair they choose.
