Perspektif Civitas Akademika Universitas Sam Ratulangi Terhadap Demonstrasi Di Perguruan Tinggi

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perspektif civitas akademika Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Sam Ratulangi mengenai demonstrasi di perguruan tinggi. Demonstrasi merupakan sarana penyampaian aspirasi, kritik, tuntutan, serta bentuk partisipasi politik dalam kehidupan demokrasi kampus. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi terhadap pimpinan fakultas, dosen, tenaga kependidikan, serta mahasiswa sebagai informan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa demonstrasi dipandang sebagai hak menyampaikan aspirasi sekaligus bentuk komunikasi politik antara mahasiswa dan pihak kampus. Demonstrasi dianggap penting untuk menyuarakan kepentingan mahasiswa, memperjuangkan kebutuhan akademik, mengawal kebijakan kampus, serta mendorong perhatian pimpinan terhadap berbagai persoalan yang muncul di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Informan menilai demonstrasi perlu dilaksanakan secara tertib, damai, bertanggung jawab, beretika, serta menghormati norma akademik. Perbedaan pandangan muncul pada penilaian mengenai cara pelaksanaan, efektivitas penyampaian pesan, sasaran penerima aspirasi, tingkat keberhasilan aksi, serta dampak yang ditimbulkan terhadap aktivitas perkuliahan, pelayanan administrasi, dan stabilitas kampus. Selain itu, demonstrasi dipandang sebagai sarana kontrol sosial yang memungkinkan mahasiswa menyampaikan kritik, masukan, dan evaluasi terhadap berbagai kebijakan kampus. Demonstrasi juga dinilai mampu meningkatkan partisipasi civitas akademika dalam kehidupan demokrasi serta mendorong terciptanya tata kelola perguruan tinggi yang lebih responsif, transparan, dan akuntabel. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa demonstrasi tetap relevan sebagai media komunikasi politik dan sarana penyampaian aspirasi di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Komunikasi terbuka, dialog konstruktif, sikap saling menghargai, serta respons yang cepat dari pimpinan kampus diperlukan agar aspirasi tersampaikan secara efektif, konflik dapat diminimalkan, dan iklim akademik yang demokratis, partisipatif, serta kondusif dapat terwujud.

ABSTRACT
This study aims to determine the perspectives of the academic community of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sam Ratulangi University, regarding demonstrations at universities. Demonstrations are a means of conveying aspirations, criticism, demands, and a form of political participation in campus democracy. The study used qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews and documentation with faculty leaders, lecturers, educational staff, and students as research informants. The results indicate that demonstrations are viewed as a right to express aspirations and a form of political communication between students and the university. Demonstrations are considered important for voicing student interests, advocating for academic needs, overseeing campus policies, and drawing attention from leaders to various issues arising within the university environment. Informants assessed that demonstrations need to be conducted in an orderly, peaceful, responsible, ethical manner, and with respect for academic norms. Differences in opinion emerged regarding the implementation method, the effectiveness of message delivery, the target audience, the level of success of the demonstration, and the impact on lecture activities, administrative services, and campus stability. Furthermore, demonstrations are viewed as a means of social control that allows students to express criticism, input, and evaluation of various campus policies. Demonstrations are also considered capable of increasing academic participation in democratic life and encouraging the creation of more responsive, transparent, and accountable higher education governance. Research concludes that demonstrations remain relevant as a medium for political communication and a means of conveying aspirations within the university environment. Open communication, constructive dialogue, mutual respect, and a swift response from campus leaders are necessary to effectively convey aspirations, minimize conflict, and create a democratic, participatory, and conducive academic climate.
