Abstract
Friction in the metal cutting process occurs between the tool and the workpiece causing high temperatures so that there is a difference in cutting temperature with room temperature. This research is an experimental study, namely by conducting tests on a lathe by varying the cutting fluid KENT USA RML-1640T mixture as an independent variable to obtain heat that propagates through the tool as the dependent variable.
The results of the analysis obtained from this study indicate that the actual heat that propagates through the tool is highest in the 1:10 cutting fluid mixture, because it has less water volume. From the linear regression results, the regression line equation is obtained y ̂=9,5509-0,0004x with a negative gradient result of 0.0004, then it can be predicted that every increase in water volume of 1 ml can reduce the tool heat on the KENT USA RML - 1640T turnning machine by 0.004 J/min.
