Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS “JURNAL ILMIAH SAINS”

GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously in any scientific journal, that manuscripts are not being submitted for publication elsewhere, and will not be submitted to any media during the review process, unless the authors have officially withdrawn the manuscripts from Jurnal Ilmiah Sains. The statement must be stated in a statement of originality and copyright release form (Form A). Jurnal Ilmiah Sains uses Similarity Check to prevent any suspected plagiarism in the manuscripts.
  2. Manuscripts submitted are research topics which have no conflict with bioethical research.
  3. Manuscripts encompass research in the area of Mathematics and Natural Sciences from the following subject areas: Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

MANUSCRIPT FILE

  1. Manuscripts are written in English or Indonesian used standard scientific usage
  2. Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word format, except for Graphs using Microsoft Excel program and Figures using JPEG or PDF format.
  3. Manuscripts should be typed using Times New Roman (TNR) fonts at 12pt, except for the title size 14pt.
  4. Manuscripts should be typed 1.15 spaced except for Title, Tables, Title of Graphs/Figures, and appendix typed single spaced. Manuscripts are prepared in A4 paper, with left margin is 3 cm, and right, top, botom margin respectively 2.5 cm.
  5. Manuscripts content should be arranged as the following order: Title, Name of the author(s) and their institutions, Abstract, Introduction, Research Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgment (if any), References.
  6. Manuscripts are typed in one (1) column
  7. Manuscripts and Form A should be submitted electronically through online system: https://ejournal.unsrat.ac.id/v3/index.php/jis

CONTENT OF MANUSCRIPTS

1.  Title [TNR 14pt, bold, center]

Title must be brief, clear, specific and informative which reflect the article content. The length of the title maximum 14 words in English and 16 words in Indonesian. Each word of the title should be started with capitalized letter.

2.  Name of author(s)

The author's name consists of 2 words, namely first name and last name. Last names should not be abbreviated. If the author's name only consists of 1 word, then the last name is made the same as the first name [TNR 11pt, 1-spaced]  .

3.  Name of institution(s)

Name of institutions where the research was conducted must be accompanied with full address including institution/department, city, and country, and e-mail. [TNR 11pt, 1-spaced]

 4.  ABSTRACT

Abstract must be written in English and Indonesian, in single paragraph and no more than 250 words. Abstracts contain clear statement of introduction, objective, methods, results, significance of finding, and conclusion, with no references cited. [TNR 12pt, 1.15-spaced] 

5. Keywords

Keywords consist of 3-5 words or phrases. Each word or phrase is separated by a semicolon (;)

6.  INTRODUCTION

Introduction describes a brief background of the research, novelty, state of the arts, and objective(s). It should be written efficiently and supported by references and no more than 2 pages. Extensive discussion of relevant literatures should be included in the discussion, not in the introduction.  [TNR 12pt, 1.15-spaced]

7.  RESEARCH METHOD

a.  It should be written clearly and completely containing a clear description of biological, analytical, and statistical procedures; so they can be repeated by other researchers. References of original methods/procedures must be stated and all modifications of procedures (if any) should be explained

b. Authors should state clearly information of commercial product and equipment used in the research, such as commercial name, product/equipment spesification, city, and country.

c. Appropriate statistical methods should be used, although the biological mechanism should be emphasized. The statistical model, classes, blocks, and experimental unit must be designated. [TNR 12pt, 1.15-spaced]

8. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

  • Data should be presented in Tables or Figures when feasible. There should be no duplication of data in Tables and Figures. Sufficient and comprehensive data followed with some index of variation (e.g., SD, SE, etc.) and significance level (e.g., p<0.01) should be presented to give a complete information and allow the reader to interpret the results of the experiment.
  • The text should explain or elaborate the tabular data, but numbers should not be repeated extensively within the text.
  • Discussion should be consistent and should interpret the results clearly and concisely, address biological mechanism and their significance, supported with suitable literatures. The discussion should show relevance between the results and the field of investigation and/ or hypotheses. [TNR 12pt, 1.15-spaced]

9.   CONCLUSION

Conclusions should be written briefly in one paragraph that answers the research objectives and reflects the experimental results obtained.  Implication of results should be added stating what the findings of this research imply for development of science. [TNR 12pt, 1.15-spaced]

10. Acknowledgement (if any)

Acknowledgement (if any) to person(s) or institution(s) who help the experiment should be stated. Authors should also state the name and the number of the project. [TNR 12pt, 1.15-spaced]

11.  References

  1. The minimum number of references used is fifteen (15)
  2. At least 80% of the references used come from journals, proceedings or theses and are up to date (last 10 years)
  3. Writing references using APA Style (American Psychological Association Style)
  4. Writing citations and references must use a reference manager application, i.e. Mendeley.
  5. It is not permitted to use secondary literature in citations, such as Hidayat (2018) in Miftah et al.(2019), and uses 'Anonymous' as a reference.
  6. Examples of in-text reference citations: Hatidja (2019) or (Hatidja, 2019);Myers et al.(2017) or (Myers et al., 2017);Gultom & Lubis (2014) or (Gultom & Lubis, 2014).
