Background: Breast milk is the first, primary, and best food in the early stages of a baby's life, which is natural. The low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is influenced by several factors, one of which is the mother's inadequate knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is not just giving a drink by sucking the nipple, because without proper and regular guidance from health workers, it will cause many obstacles in providing breast milk. Several obstacles in breastfeeding are often faced by mothers, including a lack of experience, a lack of patience in providing breast milk and a lack of knowledge in breastfeeding.
Aim: To determine the effect of health education on breastfeeding techniques on knowledge in pregnant women in the third trimester at the Pangolombian Health Center, Tomohon City, North Sulawesi.
Methods: This type of research uses the Quasi Experiment method with the design of "one group pretest-posttest" a study that provides an initial test (pre-test) before being given treatment, after being given treatment then giving a final test (post-test). The population in this study were pregnant women in the third trimester at the Pangolombian Health Center, Tomohon City, North Sulawesi, totaling 40 pregnant women, and the sample in this study consisted of 16 pregnant women.
Results: The results of this study indicate that from the samples studied there was an effect of health education on breastfeeding techniques on knowledge in pregnant women in the third trimester at the Pangolombian Health Center, Tomohon City, North Sulawesi p<0.000; less than α=0.05.
Conclusion: There is an effect of health education on breastfeeding techniques on knowledge of pregnant.
