Abstract: Background - Hemoglobin ( Hb ) is the main component of red blood cells . Anemia associated with poor clinical status and a major risk factor to the hospitalization and is a predictive factor for increased of mortality. The role of anemia on treatment duration is difficult to interpret, Thought that longer treatment may be related to other factors such as anemia due to nutritional disorders and immunological status deteriorated , causing a longer periods of time to length of stay. Objective - Objective of this study was to find the relationship between Hb levels and long of stay in hospital to patients with diarrhea. Methods - The research is an descriptive analytic with retrospektif approach, done in the Children's Health Study of Prof Dr . Dr. . R. D. Kandou Manado From November 2013 to January 2014. The subjects of the experiment is around 50 children age 6 months to 12 years .the data are gathered using medical records and analyzed using the Pearson correlation. Result - Hemoglobin level < 11 g / dl highest prevalence of long hospitalization is as > 5 days ( 64.2 % ) and hemoglobin > 11 g / dl prevalence is the highest length of stay by one day ( 49.1 % ) . The results of Pearson correlation test showed that the value of r = -0.415 and p = 0.03 . Value of -0.415 which is indicated by the value of r states there is a significant negative relationship between Hb levels and long of stay in hospital ( p = 0.003 ) , that is, the high of hb make the faster out from the hospital. Conclusions - Children diarrhea with anemia can lead to a longer length of stay in hospital.
Keywords: Hemoglobin levels , long of stay in hospital , accute diarrhea to children.
