Abstract: Hypertension is a condition of persistent increase in blood pressure in repeated examinations. Cases of hypertension is expected to increase each year. Various factors can result in the increase of blood pressure, including sleep quality. This study aimed to identify the relationship between sleep quality and blood pressure in people with hypertension at Kelurahan Paslaten Satu Lingkungan 1. This was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. Sample were obtained by using consecutive sampling method. Primary data were collected directly using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire and blood pressure test, and then were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results obtained 32 people with hypertension as respondents. The chi-square test showed no relationship between sleep quality and blood pressure among the respondents (p=1.000). However, data analysis showed that clinically blood pressure in hypertensive people with poor sleep quality was higher compared with those that had good sleep quality, with mean differences of 15.05 mmHg in systolic blood pressure and 6.37 mmHg in diastolic blood pressure.
