Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Teknik Elektro dan Komputer (JTEK) is committed to maintaining originality, academic integrity, and responsible scholarly publishing.
Policy Overview

All manuscripts submitted to JTEK must be original and must not contain plagiarized material. Authors are responsible for properly citing and acknowledging all ideas, quotations, data, figures, methods, and other materials obtained from external sources. Manuscripts may be screened for textual similarity before being sent for peer review.

The similarity score is used as an initial screening indicator and is not the sole basis for determining plagiarism or rejecting a manuscript.
Editorial Interpretation

Similarity-detection software identifies matching text but does not independently determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Editors examine the sources, extent, location, and context of each significant match. Properly quoted passages, references, standard terminology, methods, and legitimate overlap may be considered during the evaluation.

Screening Process
1 Initial Editorial Screening

The editor checks the manuscript for completeness, relevance to the journal's scope, basic academic quality, and compliance with the submission requirements.

2 Similarity Screening

Before peer review, the manuscript may be checked using similarity-detection software. The editor evaluates the similarity report and the context of identified matches. Manuscripts containing unacceptable overlap may be returned for revision or rejected when a serious ethical violation is identified.

3 Peer Review and Revision

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded for peer review. Authors must address the reviewers' and editors' comments and submit a revised manuscript when requested.

4 Final Editorial Decision

The editor makes the final decision after peer review and revision. A second similarity screening is conducted only when the revised manuscript contains substantial textual changes or when further verification is considered necessary.

Similarity-Detection Tools

The editorial team may use Turnitin or another appropriate similarity-detection service to examine submitted manuscripts. The selection of a screening tool is determined by the editorial team.

01 Submit original work that has not been plagiarized.

04 Obtain permission when copyrighted material requires authorization.
05 Revise or clarify the manuscript when unacceptable similarity is identified.
Editorial Action
Acceptable Similarity

A manuscript may proceed to peer review when the identified similarities are appropriately quoted, cited, or otherwise considered acceptable by the editor.

Revision Required

A manuscript may be returned to the authors when significant text overlap requires correction, clearer attribution, or an explanation before the editorial process can continue.

Rejection

A manuscript may be rejected when the editorial evaluation identifies plagiarism, substantial unattributed copying, duplicate publication, or another serious breach of publication ethics.

Similarity Identified After Publication

If unacceptable textual overlap is identified after publication, the editorial team may request an explanation or correction from the authors. The authors must respond within the period stated in the official editorial notification.

Correction, Withdrawal, and Retraction

Depending on the nature and severity of the identified problem, JTEK may publish a correction, withdraw an article, or retract a published article. Failure to respond to an editorial notification or to provide the requested correction may result in further editorial action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.
