Analisis dan Perancangan Jaringan WiMAX di Fakultas Teknik UNSRAT Manado

Abstract - WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is a wireless network communication technology to make easy the information interchange especially about the internet or information in human life. The characteristic development of modern society which has high mobility, demands for flexible and economic service, in anywhere and anytime. Accordingly, computer network with WiMAX, formally called IEEE 802.16, which is much better and efficient than any other network technology, is very needed in Technique Faculty of Sam Ratulangi University. The computer network designed with WiMAX in Technique Faculty through BWA to connect the sector A and sector B, compares the WiFi network that only reaches 30 metres radius and its ability in sending data only 11 Mbps which sets between 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz. WiMAX network can reach approximately 40 – 50 kilometres radius with ability in sending data up to 75 Mbps in low frequency and with its bandwith between 2 – 6 GHz either in Line of Sight (LoS) or Non Line of Sight (NLoS). This thesis analizes the Bit Rate, Receive Signal Level, Free Space Zone, radiaton energy and device requirement of WiMAX in Technique Faculty of Sam Ratulangi University.

Abstrak - WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) merupakan teknologi komunikasi jaringan Wireless yang dapat memudahkan dalam pertukaran informasi terutama kebutuhan internet atau informasi dalam kehidupan manusia. Perkembangan karakteristik masyarakat modern yang memiliki mobilitas tinggi, menuntut layanan yang lebih fleksibel serta ekonomis dimanapun dan kapanpun. Untuk itu, perlu adanya jaringan komputer yang baik dan efisien di kampus Fakultas Teknik Universitas Sam Ratulangi Manado dengan jaringan WiMAX Secara resmi disebut standart IEEE 802.16. Perancangan jaringan komputer menggunakan WiMAX di Fakultas Teknik melalui BWA untuk menghubungkan sektor A ke Sektor B, menganalisis perbandingan jaringan WiFi yang hanya menjangkau sekitar radius 30 meter, dan kemampuan menghantarkan data hanya 11 Mbps yang diatur dalam frekuensi 2,4 GHz dan 5 GHz. Jaringan WiMAX memiliki jangkauan radius 40-50 kilometer, kemampuan menghantarkan data sampai dengan 75 Mbps yang berada di frekuensi cukup rendah dan lebar 2-6 GHz dalam kondisi Line of Sight (LoS) maupun Non Line of Sight (NLoS). Analisis dalam skripsi ini mencakup analisa Bit Rate, Receive Signal Level, Free Space Zone, daya pancar, dan kebutuhan perangkat WiMAX di area Fakultas Teknik UNSRAT.
