ABSTRACT
Indonesia is a country which is rich with biodiversity, and one of them can be used as anti infection drugs. This research aims to test the antibacterial activity of pacar air flowers and seeds ethanol extract with difference concentration against the growth inhibition of S. aureus, P. aeruginosa and E. coli. The results analyzed with one way anova method and continue with duncan test. The anova data showed that the ethanol extract of pacar air flowers and seeds 10, 20, 40 and 80% concentration has given the activity to inhibit the growth of the bacterias. The flower extract 20, 40 and 80% concentration was effective to inhibit the growth of the three species bacterias while the seeds extract with same concentrations was not effective to inhibit the growth of the three species bacterias. The difference of the pacar air flowers and seeds ethanol extract concentration influence the growth inhibition of the three species bacterias, if the extract concentration was high so the growth inhibition was too.

ABSTRAK
Indonesia merupakan negara yang kaya akan keanekaragaman hayati, salah satunya bisa digunakan sebagai obat penyakit infeksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri dan pengaruh perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol bunga dan biji tanaman pacar air (Impatiens balsamina L.) terhadap penghambatan pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa dan Escherichia coli. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri dianalisa dengan metode analisa varians satu arah dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Data anova menunjukan bahwa konsentrasi esktrak etanol bunga dan biji tanaman pacar air 10, 20, 40 dan 80% telah memberikan aktivitas yang menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri uji. Untuk ekstrak bunga, pada konsentrasi 20, 40 dan 80% efektif menghambat pertumbuhan ketiga bakteri uji, sedangkan untuk ekstrak biji, pada semua konsentrasi tidak efektif untuk menghambat pertumbuhan ketiga bakteri uji. Perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol dari bunga dan biji tanaman pacar air mempengaruhi penghambatan pertumbuhan ketiga bakteri uji, dimana jika semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak yang diberikan, maka semakin tinggi pula aktivitas penghambatan pertumbuhan bakteri.
