ABSTRACT
Â
Soft coral as structure and framer of coral reef that have great bioactive potential. The aim of this study is to extract, fraction, and determine antibacterial activity from soft coral Sarcophyton sp. at the experiment with Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The soft coral sample extracted with maceration used ethanol solvent. Then fractionation with n-hexane, chloroform, and methanol solvent. This experiment use agar diffusion method (Kirby Bauer) with 250/50 concentration. As the result show that chloroform fractions have ability to inhibitor both of experiment bacteria specifically Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
Key words: Soft coral Sarcophyton sp., Antibacterial activity, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli.
Karang lunak Sarcophyton sp., Aktivitas antibakteri, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli
