ABSTRACT
Mercury is a dangerous heavy metal and in low concentrations could be toxic, but is often used in cosmetics that is in facial bleach creams. Whitening cream is a mixture of chemicals and other ingredients with properties can disguise black stains on the skin. The purpose of this research is to identify and measure mercury content in bleach preparations that do not have BPOM license circulating in the Market 45 Manado. The sample in this research is 7 sample. The method used in this study is a qualitative analysis with color testing using potassium iodide and quantitative analysis which using the tool of Cold Vapour Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry PinAAcle 900F. The result showed that from the qualitative analysis only B samples contained mercury and on the quantitative analysis the three positive samples contain mercury is B samples 0,1299 ppm C samples 0,1822 ppm and G samples 0,0566 ppm.

ABSTRAK
Merkuri merupakan logam berat yang berbahaya dan dalam konsentrasi rendah yang dapat bersifat racun, namun sering digunakan dalam kosmetik yaitu dalam krim pemutih wajah. Krim pemutih merupakan campuran bahan kimia dan bahan lainnya dengan khasiat bisa menyamarkan noda hitam pada kulit. Tujuan dari penelitiaan ini adalah mengidentifikasi dan mengukur kandungan merkuri dalam sediaan pemutih wajah yang tidak memiliki ijin BPOM yang beredar dipasar 45 Manado. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 7 sampel. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis kualitatif dengan pengujian warna dengan kalium iodida dan analisis kuantitatif yaitu menggunakan alat Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom Uap Pendingin PinAAcle 900F. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari analisis kualitatif hanya sampel B yang terdapat merkuri dan pada analisis kuantitatif ketiga sampel positif mengandung merkuri yaitu sampel B 0,1299 ppm, dan sampel C 0,1822 ppm dan sampel G 0,0566 ppm.
