Daya hambat terbesar ditunjukkan
oleh fraksi kloroform.
Kata Kunci : Holothuria atra, daya hambat, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus,

ABSTRACT
Indonesia is a tropical country, which has abundant biodiversity and one of them is sea
cucumber. This study aims to examine the antibacterial activity of sea cucumber (Holothuria atra)
fraction against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Extraction uses a maceration
method with ethanol and fractionation using solvent of n-hexane, chloroform, methanol and water
solvents. Antibacterial testing using agar diffusion method. The results showed that the extract and
fraction of the test had activity as antibacterial. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that
the fraction of sea cucumber (Holothuria atra) was effective in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli
bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with medium and strong category. The largest inhibitory
factor is shown by the chloroform fraction.
Keywords : Holothuria atra, inhibitory factor, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus,
fractionation, agar diffusion.
