This study was done to determine antibacterial activity and characterization Lamellodysidea herbacea fractions obtained from Manado bay. Extraction was done by maceration and fractionation using      n-hexane, chloroform and methanol as solvent. Test of antibacterial activity was done using agar diffusion method and characterization of sponge fraction using Mayer reagent, spectrophotometer    UV-Vis and FTIR. The result shows that all fractions possess antibacterial activity. N-hexane fraction exhibit inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus aurous by 7.53 mm, and Escherichia coli by     7.17 mm, chloroform fraction exhibit inhibitory against Staphylococcus aurous by 6,70 mm and Escherichia coli by 6,50 mm, and methanol fraction exhibit inhibitory against Staphylococcus aurous by 6,47 mm, and Escherichia coli by 6,27 mm. Mayer test gives red precipitate indicate of alkaloids, supported by UV-Vis absorption wavelength of 271 nm and 281 nm which are caused by group C = O and N-H reinforced. Infra red spectrum shows that hexane fraction contains N-H on uptake      3394,72 cm-1 which characteristic of alkaloids.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dan karakterisasi gugus fungsi fraksi Lamellodysidea herbacea. Ekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol dan fraksinasi menggunakan pelarut n-heksan, kloroform dan metanol. Pengujian antibakteri mengunakan metode difusi agar dan identifikasi senyawa mengunakan uji Mayer, spektrofotometer UV-Vis dan FTIR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan semua fraksi memiliki aktivitas sebagai antibakteri. Fraksi      n-heksan memiliki daya hambat terhadap Staphilococus aureus sebesar 7,53 mm, Escherchia coli sebesar 7,17 mm, fraksi kloroform memiliki daya hambat terhadap Staphilococus aureus sebesar 6,70 mm, Escherchia coli sebesar 6,50 mm dan fraksi metanol memiliki daya hambat terhadap Staphilococus aureus sebesar 6,47 mm, Escherchia coli sebesar 6,27 mm. Uji Mayer memberikan endapan merah menunjukkan adanya senyawa alkaloid, didukung oleh serapan UV-Vis panjang gelombang  271 nm dan 281 nm yang disebabkan oleh gugus C = O dan N-H.  Spektrum infra merah menunjukkan bahwa fraksi heksana mengandung gugus N-H yang merupakan karakteristik alkaloid pada serapan 3394,72 cm-1.
