Tinjauan Literatur: Efektivitas Sistem Resep Elektronik terhadap Penurunan Medication Error pada Fase Prescribing dan Dispensing di Instalasi Farmasi Rumah Sakit

This literature review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing an electronic prescription system (e-prescribing or CPOE) in reducing medication errors, particularly in the prescribing and dispensing phases, in a hospital setting. This study used a literature review design. Articles were searched through Google Scholar and PubMed databases using specific keywords related to electronic prescriptions and medication errors. Inclusion criteria included original full-text research articles published between 2022 and 2026, located in hospitals, and presenting empirical data related to medication errors. Of the 16 initial findings, six articles (3 national and 3 international) met the criteria and were analyzed descriptively and narratively. Analysis of the six articles showed that electronic prescription systems significantly reduced medication error rates compared to manual prescriptions, with one study reporting a reduction in the incidence of the prescribing phase from 45% to 14%. This system successfully eliminated classic manual prescribing problems, such as illegible handwriting and incomplete prescription components, and was able to speed up service times. However, the implementation of this system also creates the risk of new system-related errors, such as errors by medical personnel in selecting dosage, frequency, and units of measurement on the application interface. In conclusion, the implementation of CPOE has proven more effective than manual prescriptions in reducing medication error incidents, thereby improving efficiency and patient safety. However, hospitals need to anticipate the emergence of system-based operational errors
