Dissemination of Pest Resistance to Insecticides in the Sehati Farmer Group in Kakaskasen II Village, Tomohon City

Abstrak

One of the important pests that attacks cabbage plants is the leaf caterpillar, Plutella xylostella. Cabbage farmers control this pest heavily by using chemical insecticides. The use of insecticides that is not wise can cause various serious problems, one of which is the occurrence of insect pest resistance to the insecticide used. Therefore, this activity aims to provide information to the Sehati Farmer Group regarding the importance of understanding pest resistance due to the use of insecticides that is not wise. The Community Partnership Program Cluster 2 (PKM_K2) activity was carried out at the Sehati Farmer Group in Kakaskasen II Village, North Tomohon District, Tomohon City. The implementation method was in the form of direct socialization and discussion with the farmer group. The activities that have been carried out in this program are in the form of counseling on pest resistance due to the use of insecticides in the Sehati farmer group in Kakaskasen II Village, Tomohon City. This activity includes mentoring and counseling on how to prevent insecticide resistance to the P. xylostella leaf caterpillar pest from occurring quickly so that the failure of using chemical insecticides to suppress the pest can be avoided. The results of the collaboration between the Sehati Farmers Group and the PKM_K2 Activity Proposer Team of the Faculty of Agriculture, Unsrat have succeeded in transferring knowledge as described above.
