Abstract

Research aimed to determine the effect of Sonic Bloom sound waves on the growth of bok choy (Brassica rapa Chinensis L.) in a Deep Water Culture (DWC) hydroponic system. The treatments included classical music, rock music, and no sound treatment (control). The research was conducted in a greenhouse in Tontalete Village, Kema District, North Minahasa Regency. The sound treatment was administered twice daily, in the morning and afternoon, for two hours each. Observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, and fresh weight. Additionally, environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, nutrient solution pH, nutrient concentration (ppm), and sound intensity and frequency were also measured to support the analysis of the research results. Results showed that music had a positive effect on bok choy growth compared to no sound treatment. The classical music treatment produced the best results, with an average plant height of 14.8 cm, 10.3 leaves, and 67.8 grams fresh weight. Classical music with a frequency of around 538 Hz and an intensity of 44 dB has been shown to be more effective in supporting plant growth than rock music which has a higher frequency.
