Corrections & Retractions Policy

IDEA :  International Journal of Informatics, Data, and Emerging Applications is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the published scholarly record. If errors, ethical violations, or potentially misleading information are identified after publication, the journal will take appropriate action in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and international best practices in scholarly publishing.

Corrections

A correction may be issued when an error is identified that does not affect the overall validity of the research findings but requires amendment to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the published article. Corrections may include errors in writing, author affiliations, article metadata, tables, figures, references, or other information that does not alter the main conclusions of the research.

  • Corrections may be requested by authors, editors, or other parties who identify an error.
  • The Editor will evaluate the correction request and determine whether a correction notice should be published.
  • All published corrections will be linked to the original article to maintain transparency and preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Article Withdrawal

Article withdrawal is permitted only before an article has been formally published. Authors requesting the withdrawal of a manuscript must provide the Editor with a clear and justifiable reason.

  • A manuscript that is undergoing peer review or production should not be withdrawn unilaterally without the Editor's approval.
  • Withdrawal requests will be evaluated by the Editor based on the reasons and circumstances presented.
  • Withdrawal requests submitted after substantial editorial or production work has been completed may be subject to the journal's applicable policies and provisions.

Retractions

A retraction may be issued when serious issues are identified that compromise the integrity, validity, or reliability of a published article. Retraction is intended to correct the scholarly record and clearly inform readers about the status and reliability of the affected article.

An article may be retracted if there is evidence of:

  • Plagiarism or duplicate publication.
  • Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data.
  • Serious violations of research or publication ethics.
  • Substantial errors that render the research findings or conclusions invalid.
  • Copyright infringement or other legal violations.

When an article is retracted, the original article will remain accessible in the published record to preserve the integrity and transparency of the scholarly record. However, it will be clearly marked as a retracted article, accompanied by a retraction notice stating the reason(s) for the retraction.

Expression of Concern

In certain circumstances, when an investigation concerning a published article is ongoing and no final determination has yet been reached, the Editor may issue an Expression of Concern. This notice is intended to alert readers that there are substantial concerns regarding the integrity, validity, or reliability of an article that is currently under further investigation.

An Expression of Concern does not constitute a final determination regarding the validity or reliability of the article. The notice may be updated or followed by further editorial action, including correction or retraction, when the investigation has been concluded.

Editorial Process

All requests concerning corrections, article withdrawal, or retraction will be assessed objectively by the Editor based on the available evidence. Where necessary, the Editor may consult peer reviewers, the authors' affiliated institutions, research ethics committees, or other relevant parties to ensure that the decision-making process is fair, transparent, and consistent with principles of academic integrity and publication ethics.

The Editor will assess each case individually and take appropriate action based on the nature and severity of the issue. Where applicable, the journal will follow the relevant procedures and recommendations provided by COPE.

Compliance with Publication Ethics

This policy is guided by the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is implemented to safeguard the quality, credibility, integrity, and trustworthiness of all scholarly publications issued by IDEA :  International Journal of Informatics, Data, and Emerging Applications.

IDEA is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record through transparent, accountable, and ethically sound mechanisms for corrections, article withdrawal, retractions, and Expressions of Concern, in accordance with internationally recognized standards of publication ethics.
