Abstract

Abstract: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become a major global health concern with a rising prevalence worldwide. Hypertension and NAFLD have a bidirectional relationship, meaning that each can influence the other. Ultrasonography is the primary radiological method utilized to identify this liver condition. This study aimed to evaluate the liver ultrasonographic characteristics in patients diagnosed with NAFLD and hypertension at Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Hospital between September 2023 and August 2024. This was a descriptive and retrospective study with a cross-sectional design. Data were obtained from patient medical records through a total sampling method. The results identified 108 patients with NAFLD and hypertension, predominantly female patients (56.5%), aged 56-65 years (38.9%), and severity grade 1 or mild (64%). The distribution of severity levels based on gender and age groups was mostly found in grade 1 or mild severity in females (37%) and age group 56-65 years (25.9%). In conclusion, NAFLD patients with hypertension are predominantly female, aged 56-65 years, and have grade 1 severity (mild).
