Authorship Criteria and Policies

Jurnal Teknologi Pertanian is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in scientific publishing. Authorship carries important academic, social, and professional implications. Therefore, credit must be assigned strictly based on meaningful intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript development. All listed authors are expected to satisfy the criteria set forth below.

1. Qualification Criteria for Authorship

To qualify for authorship in Jurnal Teknologi Pertanian, every individual listed must fulfill all four of the following requirements:

  1. Substantial Research Contribution: Made significant intellectual contributions to the study's conceptualization or design, data collection, analytical processing, or the development and refinement of experimental/technological methodologies in agricultural technology.

  2. Drafting and Intellectual Input: Participated actively in composing the initial draft or critically revising the manuscript for core intellectual content.

  3. Final Manuscript Approval: Reviewed and given explicit approval to the final version of the manuscript prior to submission and publication.

  4. Accountability for Scientific Integrity: Agreed to accept responsibility for their specific contributions and to co-operate in addressing or resolving any queries regarding the accuracy or integrity of any part of the study.

2. Non-Author Contributors and Acknowledgments

Individuals who assist in the research project but do not satisfy all four eligibility criteria must not be listed as co-authors. Non-author contributions include:

  • Provision of routine laboratory or technical assistance.

  • General administrative oversight or department management.

  • Language editing, translation, or proofreading.

  • Acquisition of research funding or provision of study materials without direct involvement in research design and execution.

These individuals should be formally recognized in the Acknowledgments section, provided they have given permission to be named. Financial support, grants, and institutional equipment support must also be fully disclosed in this section.

3. Responsibilities of Authors

All co-authors share joint responsibility for the validity, originality, and ethical standards of the published work. Each author should be capable of describing their specific role and maintaining confidence in the contributions of their co-authors.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • Every named individual meets all four authorship requirements of Jurnal Teknologi Pertanian.

  • No eligible contributors are omitted (preventing ghost authorship).

  • All co-authors have reviewed and unanimously approved the final manuscript prior to submission.

  • The submission is original, free from plagiarism, and does not violate third-party intellectual property rights.

  • All funding sources, commercial relationships, and potential conflicts of interest are disclosed.

  • Any errors or ethical concerns identified post-submission are immediately reported to the Editorial Board.

4. Role of the Corresponding Author

The corresponding author serves as the official liaison between the author team and the Editorial Office throughout the submission, peer review, and publication workflows.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all co-authors agree to the submission and agree on author ordering.

  • Verifying the accuracy of all author names, affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID identifiers.

  • Managing the submission of required forms, ethical approvals, and supporting documents.

  • Disseminating peer review comments, editorial decisions, and revision requests to all co-authors in a timely manner.

Designation as a corresponding author does not exempt other authors from shared ethical responsibility for the research.

5. Author Order and CRediT Taxonomy

The sequence of author names should be collectively agreed upon by the research group prior to submission, reflecting their relative scientific contributions in accordance with disciplinary norms in agricultural technology and engineering.

Jurnal Teknologi Pertanian encourages authors to describe individual contributions using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT). Applicable roles include:

  • Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Validation, Formal Analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data Curation, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review & Editing, Visualization, Supervision, Project Administration, and Funding Acquisition.

6. Modifications to Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be directed to the Editorial Office. The request must include:

  1. A clear explanation of the rationale for the change.

  2. A formal agreement signed by all authors (including those being added or removed).

Jurnal Teknologi Pertanian reserves the right to request verification from institutional authorities before approving changes. Post-publication authorship adjustments will strictly follow COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and the journal's correction policy.

7. Unethical Authorship Practices

Jurnal Teknologi Pertanian strictly prohibits unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Guest / Honorary Authorship: Including individuals who lack sufficient intellectual contribution due to their seniority or position.

  • Gift Authorship: Adding colleagues as a personal favor or courtesy without meeting the criteria.

  • Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who made substantial intellectual contributions qualifying them for authorship.

  • Unauthorized Changes: Altering author lists without full author consent and editorial authorization.

  • Misrepresentation: Providing false statements regarding contributor roles.

Allegations of authorship misconduct will be evaluated by the Editorial Board and may lead to manuscript rejection, formal retraction, or reporting to the authors' host institutions.

8. Editorial Oversight and COPE Compliance

The Editorial Board of Jurnal Teknologi Pertanian reserves the right to request supporting evidence or raw data regarding authorship claims at any stage of review. All authorship disputes and misconduct cases are managed transparently in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
