About the Journal

Jurnal Bios Logos is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sam Ratulangi University, Indonesia. Established in 2011, the journal provides an international scholarly platform for original research and critical scientific synthesis across the biological sciences.

Jurnal Bios Logos advances integrative biological research spanning molecular, organismal, population, community, and ecosystem levels. Drawing on its established publication record, the journal has developed particular strengths in tropical biodiversity, ecology and conservation, plant and animal biology, molecular and microbial biology, biological resources, environmental biology, and biotechnology.

Located in North Sulawesi within the biologically distinctive Wallacea region, the journal has a particular scholarly interest in tropical and Wallacean biological systems, including biodiversity-rich terrestrial, freshwater, coastal, and island environments. This geographic strength does not limit the journal's international scope. Jurnal Bios Logos welcomes high-quality research from all regions when the study advances biological knowledge and demonstrates relevance beyond its immediate species, site, or dataset.

The journal encourages research that integrates contemporary biological approaches, including biodiversity assessment, long-term ecological monitoring, molecular identification and DNA barcoding, phylogenetic analysis, microbial and biochemical methods, experimental biology, bioinformatics, biotechnology, and quantitative ecological analysis. Studies involving biological resources, natural products, human or animal physiology, or biomedical models should provide a substantive biological contribution and be clearly grounded in biological mechanisms or processes.

Jurnal Bios Logos applies a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two independent reviewers. The journal is committed to editorial independence, publication ethics, research integrity, transparent authorship, responsible use of artificial intelligence, ethical treatment of human and animal research subjects, responsible biodiversity research, data transparency, and appropriate correction of the scholarly record.

The journal publishes three issues annually and welcomes contributions from researchers worldwide.
