1. Introduction
Jurnal BIOS LOGOS is committed to the principles of Open Access and to the broad dissemination of scholarly knowledge in the biological sciences. The journal believes that immediate and unrestricted access to research supports the advancement of science, facilitates knowledge exchange, promotes education, strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhances the societal impact of scientific research.
Jurnal BIOS LOGOS therefore provides open access to its published content and seeks to make scholarly articles available to the widest possible audience without subscription barriers.

2. Definition of Open Access
Jurnal BIOS LOGOS follows the principle that scholarly research should be freely accessible to readers immediately upon publication.
All published articles are made available online without subscription charges or mandatory registration for readers. There is no embargo period for accessing published articles.
Subject to the applicable Creative Commons license and relevant copyright law, readers may read, download, copy, share, distribute, print, search, link to, and otherwise reuse published material for lawful purposes.
The conditions governing reuse are determined by the Creative Commons license applied to the article.
3. Free and Immediate Access
All articles published in Jurnal BIOS LOGOS are freely available online immediately after publication.
Readers are not required to:
a. Pay subscription fees;
b. Purchase individual articles;
c. Register an account solely to access published content; or
d. Wait for an embargo period before accessing the full text.
This policy is intended to ensure equitable access to scientific information regardless of geographic location, institutional affiliation, or financial resources.
4. Copyright and Licensing
Authors who publish in Jurnal BIOS LOGOS retain copyright in their work and grant the journal a non-exclusive license of first publication.
The journal's current copyright metadata identifies the applicable license as the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). Unsrat e-Journal
Under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license, users may:
a. Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format; and
b. Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material;
under the following conditions:
a. Attribution (BY): Appropriate credit must be given to the author(s), Jurnal BIOS LOGOS should be acknowledged as the original source of publication, a link to the license should be provided where possible, and users should indicate whether changes have been made.
b. NonCommercial (NC): The material may not be used primarily for commercial purposes without additional permission where required.
Unlike CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, the current CC BY-NC 4.0 license used by Jurnal BIOS LOGOS does not require derivative works to be distributed under the same license.
The applicable license should be displayed clearly on the journal website and, where possible, on the published article itself.
5. Author Rights
Because authors retain copyright, authors may reuse and disseminate their published articles in accordance with the applicable license and journal policies.
Authors may, among other things:
a. Deposit their published articles in institutional or subject repositories;
b. Post articles on personal or institutional websites;
c. Share articles with students, colleagues, and research collaborators;
d. Use published material for teaching and academic presentations;
e. Reuse parts of their articles in subsequent scholarly works with appropriate acknowledgment; and
f. Distribute copies for legitimate scholarly and educational purposes.
Authors should acknowledge Jurnal BIOS LOGOS as the original place of publication and provide the DOI or article link whenever available.
6. User Rights and Permitted Reuse
The Open Access model of Jurnal BIOS LOGOS is designed to allow readers to make legitimate scholarly use of published content while respecting author rights.
Users may reproduce, share, and adapt material in accordance with the CC BY-NC 4.0 license, provided that appropriate attribution is given and the material is not used primarily for commercial purposes without appropriate authorization.
Third-party material included in an article may be subject to separate copyright or licensing conditions. Such material should be clearly identified where applicable.
7. Article Processing Charges and Publication Fees
Jurnal Bios Logos (JBL) provides immediate and free access to all published articles without subscription or reader access fees.
To support its editorial administration, manuscript processing, digital publication, and long-term sustainability, JBL applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 850,000 per accepted manuscript. No manuscript submission fee is charged.
The APC applies to manuscripts submitted on or after March 1, 2024, in accordance with the journal's officially approved fee policy.
Payment is required only after the manuscript has completed the peer-review process and has been formally accepted for publication. Editorial decisions are based exclusively on the scholarly quality, originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and relevance of submitted manuscripts.
An author's ability or willingness to pay publication fees does not influence the peer-review process or editorial decisions.

8. Benefits of Open Access
Open Access provides benefits to authors, researchers, institutions, and society.
For authors, Open Access can:
a. Increase the visibility and accessibility of published research;
b. Broaden readership beyond subscribers of particular institutions;
c. Facilitate scholarly sharing and collaboration;
d. Increase opportunities for research findings to be used in education and practice; and
e. Support compliance with Open Access requirements of research funders and institutions.
For the scientific community and society, Open Access can:
a. Facilitate faster exchange of scientific knowledge;
b. Promote equitable access to research;
c. Support interdisciplinary collaboration;
d. Improve opportunities for reuse and synthesis of research findings; and
e. Increase the public value of research.
9. Compliance with Funder and Institutional Policies
Authors are responsible for ensuring that publication in Jurnal BIOS LOGOS is compatible with the Open Access, copyright, repository, and licensing requirements of their research funders or institutions.
Because funder requirements may vary, authors are encouraged to review applicable funding agreements before submission.
Where necessary, authors should contact the editorial office for clarification regarding copyright retention, licensing, or repository deposition.
10. Repository and Self-Archiving
Jurnal BIOS LOGOS supports responsible self-archiving and dissemination of published research.
Authors may deposit their articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, academic websites, and other appropriate scholarly platforms, subject to the journal's applicable license and repository policy.
Repository copies should clearly acknowledge Jurnal BIOS LOGOS as the original publication source and should include the DOI or link to the version of record whenever possible.
11. Digital Preservation and Long-Term Access
Jurnal BIOS LOGOS is committed to the long-term accessibility and preservation of its published scholarly content.
The current OJS installation exposes a LOCKSS publisher manifest, indicating support for preservation through LOCKSS-compatible infrastructure. Unsrat e-Journal
Information concerning additional preservation services, including the PKP Preservation Network or other external archiving systems, should be stated only where such services are actively configured for the journal.
