SINTESIS DIDODEKIL AZELAT DARI REAKSI ESTERIFIKASI DODEKIL KLORIDA DENGAN DIKALIUM AZELAT

Abstract


It has been conducted the synthesis of didodecyl azelat from esterification reaction of dodecyl chloridewith dipotassium azelat by using triethylamine hydrochloride (TEA-HCl) as catalyst. The esterification ofdidodecyl azelat using by TEA-HCl was a condition of reflux on heating at 70oC. The result of product wasperformed by means of infra red (IR) and melting point. The structure of ester didodecyl azelat wasidentified by IR spectrometry which shows absorption at 1724.52 cm-1indicating ester from ester aliphaticgroup. The result showed that ester didodecyl azelat could be formed by esterification reactiondipotassium azelat with dodecyl chloride and yield which was 80% and melting point was 293,33. Theresult concluded that esterification of didodekil azelat could be synthesized using triethylaminehydrochloride (TEA-HCl) as catalyst
