Abstract

Mangrove forests in Desa Bakau, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan play an important role as a habitat for various types of aquatic biota, one of them being gastropods. Gastropods are reported to have a wide distribution in both inland and marine waters. Local people catch them for sale and consumption. An inventory of gastropod species in the mangrove area of Desa Bakau can provide initial information regarding the diversity of existing species. This data can be used as a database for sustainable management and utilization of natural resources. The purpose of this study was to identify the species of gastropods in the mangrove of Desa Bakau, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan. This study used the exploratory method of collecting gastropods at the observation station. The results found 5 types of gastropods in Desa Bakau, such as Cassidula, Ellobium, Cerithidea, Littoraria, and Pirenella.
